Time..please slow down...

Man, where does the time go and why cant time just slow down?

Loved ones grow old and die, my children grow up... and become my age...wait I got older too? I don't feel older, do you?

My mom said she didn't feel older, and yet she couldn't keep death at bay any longer.

Last Sunday my firstborn turned 40, can that even be possible? Didn't I just turn 40, or does it just seem like I did?

My grand kids, are getting so big so fast, and one will be able to drive in a short while. It seems like not that long ago when he was born...

The time factor for this period on earth is going faster and faster. The older I get, the faster time goes by.
Do you know that even though a year is a year, it feels like it takes 6 months to get through it, gone...like that!

I guess I need to focus on loving those around me...

To be thankful for what I have been blessed with... family, friends and yes, the critters.

I think there is really something to the saying "Don't sweat the small stuff, it s all small stuff"

What do you think?

  1. You have expressed in today's post exactly what I've been feeling. My mom will be 94 soon, and says it's always such a surprise when she looks into a mirror. She feels young inside. These days I look into a mirror and say..now, when did THAT happen??
My kids are 37 and 35. I so remember being their age; raising them, and experiencing the stress of the thirties. Each decade brings something different to us. Good and bad. It takes getting older to make us realize, that it is indeed, all small stuff!
    Hugs.

  2. I'm feeling it, too! I just turned 59 and hubby will be 61 tomorrow. Sometimes we just wonder where the years went!

  3. I totally agree! I am a bit younger ;-) but I have been noticing how fast time flies by now, I mean little Matthew is 7 & 1/2 months already! It feels like we just got home from the hospital with him. And its been almost 5 YEARS since my mom passed away, what?? Before I know it Jimmy will be in school and then Matthew...time can slow down any time now, but I know its just going to seem to go faster! I have definitely been dwelling on the small stuff too much, time to make better use of my time! xoxo

  4. I also agree, although I'm also a little younger. Time seemed to stand still when I was a kid, and now I find myself talking about getting things done in the next couple of years and it not seeming very far away at all. It's odd how our perspective changes over time, about time.

  5. Perfectly written....it does go by so fast...I remember my father on his 60th birthday saying to me "I can't believe I am this damn old." I did not understand that feeling at the time, but now that I am 55, I understand EXACTLY what he meant.

  6. Yes, time doesn't wait for us does it? Our kids are 44 39 and 32 - and I remember when I was their ages - thinking over 60 was really old! and here it am now 63 and hubby 66! Don't feel that old most of the time! lol Have a great day.

  7. It's weird how that happens. I figure I should have more time now that I have no child to take care of, no aging parents to take care of, I'm not working two jobs, and I'm not trying to finish a degree. And yet, I have less time than ever. I recently read that rather than worry so much about having enough money when you retire, you should worry about your social circle and having enough people in your life so you don't end up lonely. Sounds like a good plan to me.
