My Manx cat Delilah, crossed the "rainbow bridge" today.
She was our only cat, and lived in the garage. She was a great mouser, and also got a few scoldings for bringing bird sacrifices as well. She loved her paradise and kitty jungle, which was my flower garden, near the bird feeders of course!
She drove the poor birds crazy, stalking them under the bird feeders. Sometimes when outside, you would see her jump straight up in the air. She would be trying to catch a bird in flight or about to feed.
She was also notorious for trying to race under the garage door, when it was being shut, like a game of Russian roulette. Yes, that is where we are going with this...
Late this morning, I had left the house and shut the garage door, as always. Usually I would stop the door about 5 inches from the ground, so she had a way in and out.
I forgot this morning...
My husband found her when he went out later. All I can say is that I feel horrible, just horrible.
I buried her under her bird feeders, in her own "private kitty jungle" which she loved so much.
We will miss you dear Delilah..

Oh... I'm so sorry :(
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. It is so hard to loose a pet, and when an accident happens, it just is harder.
ReplyDeleteVery sad....but she'll be with you for years in memory. She was a sweet girl.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry for your loss. It's hard to take, when accidents like this happen. When I lost my pyrenees he was out looking for me, when he got hit. If I hadn't stayed out late, he might not have been on the tracks that night, so I understand feeling horrible, but just know that it was just an accident, and accidents can't be helped.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately things happen and you never know how things might have played out differently, but she had a very good life (like my pyrenees did) while she was here, so just try to concentrate on those good things. *Hugs*
Oh, no!! How sad!! I feel so bad for you...an accident like that is just awful -- but it is an accident. I am sure Delilah knew she was loved and cared for. It is so TOUGH to lose a pet!! We have all been there.. My sympathies.
ReplyDeleteOh no!! I am SO SORRY Jan!! I am just now reading this and I feel horrible for you! You know I know how you feel since we lost Duke and it was on my watch...it is so heart breaking to lose a beloved pet. Maybe her and Duke will romp and play together, did she like dogs? Duke loved cats ;-) Who knows! Sending you big giant hugs!!
