OK, we had plans to go watch the fireworks at "Emerald Downs" with the Family on Friday afternoon.. as we went last year and it was amazing. I am not really into fireworks.. and I was impressed!
Well, after working on Friday and with the weather being about 90, we had decided we didn't want to go fight the traffic and parking issues to go to the racetrack, and were going to stay home.
Well, the other half had mentioned running up to see the new Angel of the Winds. It is a smaller Casino which was added onto and remodeled lately, and is known to be the most friendly one around.
So, we hop in the car and pop up there to check it out. We find a spot to park, and get out...only to see that the car next to us has a sweet looking and panting large puppy locked in the car... mind you it is about 85 degrees at this time. Oh, and what a thoughtful owner, she had cracked the windows about 3-4 inches on each side. I am sure that made the dog comfortable...NOT!
I immediately wrote the license number down, and brought it to someone on the staff. Over and over again we heard them on the sound system asking "whoever owns the Honda Prelude with license number... please come to the office".
Then finally we hear.. "whoever owns the Honda Prelude license number.... your car is being towed." My other half went out to see what they were doing and he said 3 security people had been observing the issue to the end.
We were extremely pleased with how Angels of the Winds handled this, and took the dogs health and concerns into consideration.
I could just wring the neck of that dog's owner, I really could!

Good for you Jan!! I would have done the same thing. People are so clueless, it really makes me mad! I was in and out of my hot car today and let me tell you, I could barely breathe a few seconds before I had to roll down all the windows or turn on the AC! Was the car really towed or did they just say that to get the owner's attention about the dog? I was just wondering once it was towed, if they impound the dog at the shelter until they came and picked it up. Have a fun and safe 4th!!
ReplyDeleteTowed where? What about the dog?
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I wish more people took their animals health and comfort into considerations before leaving the house. Makes me so mad.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you didn't just walk away.
Ohhh that really peeves me!! I felt super guilty leaving Duke in the car with the windows open a bit when I just ran into Subway to pick up our order! HOW can people DO that?? Just leave the dog at HOME! ARGH! I am glad the casino handled it the way they did, some places would probably not care. So did they just say they were towing the car to get the owner's attention? Or if they did tow it, I am assuming the dog was taken care of? (oops, just read Pony Girl's comment lol) =) Glad you said something. Have a great 4th!
ReplyDeleteThey should have just left the dog at home! I'm glad you said something and the matter was handled appropriately!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... that drives me INSANE!!!! So glad you took action on this... & that the staff did something too..
ReplyDeletethat poor dog!
Selfish dog owner! They wanted the doggie there for their own gratification. No thought to the dog's health and safety. Good for you for taking a proactive role. You may have saved a life.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why people have to do that. When it is this hot, they need to leave their dog at home! I am so glad you said something and that the casino did something about it. Do you know what happened in the end?
ReplyDeleteThere are so many idiots out there!
Just an update.. yes my husband watched the car be towed...and I am still trying to find out the end result for the dog. I have contacted the Casino to see who towed it.
ReplyDeleteYour city or county may have a law against doing this...if so I hope the owner gets a HUGE&(*%FINE!!! Good for you for seeing this through!
ReplyDeleteGood job!!! You probably saved the dogs life!
ReplyDeleteJan you are awesome!! You definitely saved that dog's life!! Some people are so STUPID and careless!!!!!!!!!! Let's lock them in there and see how they like it!!! Oh did I just say that out loud?!?!
ReplyDeleteAnd the casino did a great job with their response, very awesome place!!!!!!
Good for you for taking action. That is great!
ReplyDeleteI've tried to read your newest post about pics and it says it doesn't exist! Please let us know what you're doing!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Fourth!
uuggh... that makes me so sad... but im so glad that something was done about it...
ReplyDeleteI used to live right up the street from Angel of the Winds. They ARE friendly!
ReplyDeleteAre you in Snohomish County?
