Thankful Thursday...family and horses..

I really have so much to be thankful for...not just my family.. which is reason enough.. but I have horses to ride. You all know, not everyone gets to have a horse..or access to a horse to ride.
My younger sister Jill ( who is on Zoe, the palomino) had a life goal.. which was to ride a horse again.
You see ..she had been seriously overweight and was not able to ride for more years than she can remember.. and now she is at a healthy weight.. and was chomping at the bit( sorry , I couldn't resist!) to ride. So Zoe was happy to volunteer her services.. and
ride she did, and I did too!

At first she thought she wanted to ride Betsy, until I pointed out what a twerp my Betsy can be. So Jill seemed more than happy to ride our more pleasant little cutting bred mare, Zoe.

I have not ridden in over a year...and I gotta admit I enjoyed it, I think I may even ride tomorrow!
Jill is a school teacher in Las Vegas, and is up visiting on her school break..

So, now Jill can check that goal off her list, though I don't think she is done riding!

  1. Oh how wonderful, I am glad she finally got to ride (and you too!) I can't wait until we get our roundpen up and I can start working with Pegasus, I have been "chomping at the bit" for some time now too! ;-)

  4. Having a horse and being able to ride is near the very top of my list when I count blessings, It is so true, not everyone is fortunate enough to have horses in their lives. I have more blessings than I deserve.
P.S. Good for Jill!!! Great accomplishment!

  12. It's been a long time since I've ridden a horse. Thanks so much for stopping in at Babasfarmlife and commenting. As for the Swine Flu, at least you know not to panic and wash your hands often. I think if we all just take the normal precautions we will be fine.

  13. That is so cool! It's been years since I've ridden a horse - I have already let my hubby know that our next house needs to have more acreage...and a barn...so we can get at least 2 horses. He's scared of them (because when he was a child he fed a horse a sugar cube from his fingertips instead of his palm, so of course he got bit. So now he's concerned he'll get 'attacked'...(snicker!) He's resigned himself to having horses on our property in the future - though he swears he'll give them a wide berth...we'll see! ;) Love the pictures!!!

  14. Yay, it was a lot of fun! Unfortunately I'm back in the saddle (hah) again for my real life in Las Vegas, so no more riding for a while. Thank you, everyone for your nice comments - it's been a loooong process but so worth it.
