Spring time visiters to the bird feeder..it's a free for all!

So here I was sitting in the home office last Monday (due to the summer like weather, I played hooky from work).

So.. I look out the window, glancing at the bird feeder.. only to see this "rat" like character in the feeder, stuffing his little rat like face.

And my first thought was, great..I am feeding the neighborhood rats!

So I grabbed my trusty little Olympus (someday I will have a really good camera!) and went out to see for myself... and was relieved to see it was only a greedy squirrel!
(click on picture for a better look at my rat like furry friend!)

The birds were not happy as he (yes I could tell it was a "HE" as he ran up the tree later) was having a real feast...my poor other half keeps filling the feeders grumbling something about how he just can't believe they empty them out so fast...should I tell him?

So, tell me..what uninvited guests do you find visiting you? Possibly feral cats, raccoons, ducks...rabbits?

We have those little bitty bunnies that are all over the place in the spring and summer..they go scampering down our driveway, diving into the woods across the road.

It is a good thing we have invisible fence, or I have some Corgi's who would really be bad dogs and less cute little wild bunnies!

  2. We have all manner of woodland critters visiting in our yard - and we live in a Suburban neighborhood. We see deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and all sorts of birds.

  3. I am always amazed at how squirrels can get in any feeder! Little stinkers.

Hope you have a great Easter!

  4. There are black squirrels and some white ones in town. Funny, I don't think I have ever seen a real gray squirrel here. The only wildlife we get at our place is raccoons, groundhogs, opossums, coyotes and some deer occasionally. Oh and a skunk once. Nothing I WANT! Oh well... =)

  5. I love my bird feeders and even the squirrels that come visit. We put up squirrel feeders and it's helped to keep them out of the bird feeders, they still get in them, but not as often. The visitors I don't like are the grackles, they run away all the other birds. Oh and the neighborhood cats.

My little dog stands at the window and barks at him!

Thanks for sharing -- Great shot!

  8. Thanks for coming by the other day. Right now I have robin's in my yard. I want to get a humming bird feeder to bring them to my house. I will when it gets a little bit warmer here.

    Happy Easter!!!!!

  9. Those squirrels are nasty little guys. They love to take over bird feeders, bird nests, etc. And then they get so upset with you if you try to roust them form their "rightful" home invasion!
Isn't it wonderful to have Spring back though? I love this time of year.

  11. We don't have squirrels, but once in a while, the neighborhood roadrunner stops by and chases my little cat down the street!
